Install and update
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- macOS 12 or later
- Apple Silicon or Intel
- Git installed on the Mac (ffgit runs every operation through it)
Install
Section titled “Install”Download the latest build: ffgit.dmg. The link always points at the current release.
Open the DMG and drag ffgit to Applications.
Start ffgit from Applications. The app and the DMG are signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper opens them without a warning.
Every build also stays available at its own address under https://install.aso.dev/ffgit/versions/. The Releases page lists them with their dates and sizes.
Updates
Section titled “Updates”ffgit updates itself with Sparkle. It checks the update feed in the background; ffgit → Check for Updates… checks right away.
The feed also names the oldest build that may keep running. A copy older than that shows an Update required window at launch, or within an hour if it is already open, and updates through Sparkle.
Windows and Linux
Section titled “Windows and Linux”Windows (Inno Setup installer) and Linux (tarball and .deb) packages are built in CI, but they are still in testing and are not a public release yet.
