Privacy and data
ffgit is a desktop app: your repositories, drafts and settings stay on your computer.
What stays local
Section titled “What stays local”- Git runs through the
gitinstalled on your computer. ffgit reads and writes your repositories the way Git is configured, with your hooks, filters and signing. - Provider tokens for GitHub and GitLab are stored locally in an encrypted file.
- Agent activity — the journal of agent runs, read state and measured chat sizes — is kept encrypted beside the settings. ffgit reads Claude Code’s session status file (
~/.claude/sessions/<pid>.json) and nothing else in that folder, never its token files. - Recovery copies are stored in the project’s
.ffgit/backupsfolder until you delete them.
What goes over the network
Section titled “What goes over the network”- GitHub and GitLab, only when you act on them: listing and reviewing requests, reading CI, downloading artifacts, and fetch, pull, push or clone.
- Update checks against the Sparkle feed at
install.aso.dev. - Crash reports from release builds, sent to ASO.dev’s own Sentry. Debug builds and test runs do not send them.
ffgit does not send your code or your agents’ conversations anywhere else.
